SLS Health Coaching is honored to be featured in this month’s newsletter for the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies.
The T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies (CNS) is a nonprofit organization based in Ithaca, NY, home of Cornell University. Started in 2007 by T. Colin Campbell, PhD, and Megan Murphy, the Center grew out of T. Colin Campbell’s life work in nutritional research and the recognition of The China Study, the 2005 book co-authored with his son Thomas Campbell, MD. Originally known as the T. Colin Campbell Foundation, the board and staff changed the name to the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies in 2013.
In 2009 CNS, in collaboration with eCornell, began offering the Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition. The certificate program has become a nationally-recognized nutrition education program, enrolling thousands of students who have gone on to use their knowledge in a variety of endeavors. John and Mary-Ellen are 2014 CNS graduates.
In addition to the general public, CNS has helped educate a growing number of health professionals through its continuing education credit programs.
Their mission is to promote optimal nutrition through science-based education, advocacy, and research. By empowering individuals and health professionals, they aim to improve personal, public, and environmental health.
The editors of the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies newsletter asked Mary-Ellen and John to write an article about their personal journey as CNS graduates. In the article, Mary-Ellen and John explain the value of a plant-based education complimenting their ability to help others while helping themselves to a healthier life.
