“When you change the way you look at things; the things you look at change.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

During this important conversation with Roger, we discuss what stress is and the effects of it on the body, including the brain. We also present various simple techniques to manage stress that you can add to your “toolbox” and use right away to easily transition from a mood of stress or sadness to a mood of calmness or happiness.

The reality is that most of the time, how we perceive a situation determines whether it is or will be stressful. Not to make light of some situations; there truly are traumatic events that happen to people. It becomes even more important that those people have the tools and supports to help them cope, deal, and move past it. There will always be outside stimuli and events in our lives or in our field of view that can be considered stressful to the majority of us but we do have some control over how it affects us. We start the conversation on how you can put yourself in the driver’s seat in your happiness.

Is stress harmful or helpful? Can certain foods trigger a stressful state? How important is sleep? Tune in to find the answers. As always, we run short on time for this one but we get the conversation going. So, sit back, enjoy the exchange, and don’t worry about stress.

We would offer that a good place to start may be with The Brookside Wellness Centre  or The Iris Center. They both offer 8 week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction programs.

You may also enjoy this free app from Headspace called Take 10. We have it on our phones and whenever we want to relax, we simply follow one of the ten different 10-minute guided meditations. A great way to start or end the day.
