SLS Health Coaching is owned and operated by Mary-Ellen and John Landry. Combined, Mary-Ellen and John have over 50 years of experience as health and wellness leaders. They are sought after for their knowledge, energy, and ability to communicate and connect with people.
Their passion is to provide a supportive, non-judgemental community that empowers people to create positive life changes.
While committed to separate, full-time careers, Mary-Ellen and John dedicate their "off hours" to SLS Health Coaching. Whether in their full-time jobs, or in SLS activities, one thing is certain, they are passionate about helping others.
Mary-Ellen holds a Bachelor degree in Physical Education from the University of New Brunswick (1995) and has accumulated hundreds of hours in professional development in the areas of health, wellness, fitness, medical science, and self-development. She has an authentic and deep interest in seeing people thrive and this is easily apparent with her outgoingness, contagious positive energy, and her ability to connect with people. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Mary-Ellen owned and operated her own fitness consulting and personal training business and has become a Trainer-of-Trainers through two reputable Canadian organizations. She continues to build her leadership skills as a part of her ongoing education and quest for deeper knowledge to be able to share with others. Having spent eleven years of her professional career in the pharmaceutical industry, Mary-Ellen had the opportunity to work in a number of areas relating to chronic disease and has a solid and in depth knowledge of therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular disease (CCPE Accreditation), respiratory, endocrinology, and gastroenterology. This has allowed her to a unique and deep understanding of this side of healthcare. She is certified in Mindful Eating with Shambhala Publications (2014) (shambhala.com) and is a certified Corporate Wellness Consultant with the Well.org Corporate Wellness Academy (2015) (well.org).
John holds a Master’s of Science in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick (2000). For seventeen years he worked in both research and clinical areas of biomedical engineering where he developed a keen understanding of the process of medical research and a great appreciation of the wonders of the human body. John’s greatest passion in life is helping others reach their full potential. He has experienced great joy in doing so for over twenty years in a variety of ways: as a martial arts instructor (he holds two black belts), an English teacher (in Japan), a certified group fitness instructor, and a computer skills teacher for seniors. Using a teaching style that combines reassuring, in-depth knowledge and relaxed humour, he is able to simultaneously inspire, educate and entertain. John’s formal coaching training is from none other than world-renowned Tony Robbins and Cloe Madanes and he is certified in Strategic Intervention Coaching with Robbins-Madanes Training (2015) (RMTCenter.com), which focuses on helping people create lasting behaviour changes quickly and easily.
Mary-Ellen and John are each certified in Plant-Based Nutrition with the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies (2014) (nutritionstudies.org). During this certification they received training from Dr. Campbell, Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn Jr., Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Alona Pulde, Dr. Matt Lederman, and other world-renowned experts in using “whole-food plant-based” nutrition (healthy vegan food) for the prevention and reversal of disease.

Dr. Joan Wright, with 25 years of experience as a psychologist, is passionate about helping clients feel like themselves again. “People deserve to heal as quickly as possible with the best interventions available,” she says. Her training allows her to assess the interaction between the brain, body and mind to determine the best place to start the healing process.
“As we gain a deeper understanding of how stress and trauma affect the brain,” Dr. Wright says, “we can now help people heal faster and more effectively because we are starting where the problem is – the brain and once the brain waves are balanced, then we talk it out, breathe it out, stretch it out, meditate it out, nutrition it out, massage it out – whatever body or mind intervention works for the specific need.”
Through the MindShift Clinic, Wright’s goal is to offer clients tools that provide them with a greater capacity to experience healing so they can feel like themselves again as quickly as possible.
Brain, body and mind assessments are available, including a brainwave assessment (EEG) to evaluate how the brain has been impacted by biological and environmental events, a biofeedback assessment to determine the amount of stress held in the body, and psychological assessments to evaluate mind symptoms. The goal of the individualized treatment plan is to optimize the way the brain, body and mind work together.
Mindshift Clinic is a multi-disciplinary clinic which has the goal of providing rehabilitation to those with emotional, and physical pain, cognitive, and behavioral symptoms. We are dedicated to offering wellness through the latest innovative science by using Biofeedback and Neurofeedback, in conjunction with complementary therapies.
